A board research at the University of Basrah ,College of Medicine, discussed the diagnostic value of chest ultrasound compared to computed tomography (CT) in chest injuries. The research, presented by student Asmar Haider Khalaf, aimed to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and clinical utility of transthoracic ultrasound compared to CT scans in patients with chest injuries. The research concluded that transthoracic ultrasound (TTU) is a valuable, rapid, and accurate tool for diagnosing chest injuries, offering diagnostic performance comparable to CT scans with the added benefit of immediate results and reduced patient transfer time. This study supports the incorporation of TTU into the initial assessment of chest injury patients to expedite diagnosis and treatment.
